- I have worked in a dental office for five summers, starting in my Junior year of high school.
- Responsibilities: Prepare exam rooms before patients arrived, sterilized rooms, cleaned rooms after patients left, sterilized instruments, answered phones, made appointments, seated patients
- I also had opportunities to observe and assist the dentist during procedures that included cosmetic dentistry procedures, extractions, root canals, and orthodontic procedures such as braces being applied to teeth.
Luzerne County Intermediate Unit 18 (2008/2009 School Year)
- Substitute Teacher Associate - When I was home from school on break, I acted as a substitute teacher associate in classrooms for mentally and physically handicapped students from grade school to high school.
- Teacher Associate for the Extended School Year Program - During the summer of 2009, I was a teacher associate for a six week summer school program for physically and mentally handicapped students ages 10 to 12.
- In both of these settings, I helped students learn math, reading and English, as well as teaching the older students I worked with different life skills that will help them attain a job.
